podcast for the masses…

 

Just thought that I would plug a new podcast that I am listening to. It is by a guy that is really funny and also reminds me of my buddy Mike from the L-East coast.

Google Maps is officially funny to me now

So I was talking to my friend today and he was talking about his house he bought so I decided that I would go and look at it in Google maps of course when I look at it I decided that I would use the street view. Of course it is a nice house for an older house in Yarmouth.

So I decided that I would look at my moms house on street view and this is what I found.

Of course it is my mother sitting outside being nosy trying to get the dirt on everyone. Of course I called her about it and she didn’t know about google maps (which I should have figured out before I called her). When I explained to her what it was she thought that it was damn funny. I also asked her if she remembered seeing a weird looking truck one day. She did remember it but she could not figure out what it was, she called it a space truck.

Of course when I saw it I could not stop laughing.

 

Finally got to see this

I finally got to see the documentary and I would like to say that it  was not what I thought that it would be. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of black metal but I thought that it would really delve into more bands than it did.

I guess I am happy that I did not see this in the theater when it was showing here.

Comics ordered and on the way

So I was searching the internet and I found the site expertcomics.com. Man I hope this site actually isn’t a bullshit site. I found the Predators series and with shipping it only cost me a grand total in 16.74 CAD.

For me this is a god send because when I am trying to get these comics I hate it that I can find issue 1,3 & 5 and the rest are all gone. I know this sounds like I am a professional collector (which I am definitely not) and have been collecting for years I just like the fact that I can go online and get a whole series in one shot.

For the record I am not out looking for a million different comics I am just mainly interested in the Aliens and Predators series. I have been also looking for the Omnibus series for the AVP series. After that is done I think I will be finished with the whole comic thing.

So now that I have that out of the  way I thought that I would add a little something about the trip to Oliver over the weekend. Well it was great as always. The one thing that is rough was all of the drinking that I had to do. Although I didn’t drink as much as the rest of the family (they are drinking pros).

If you look at the picture this is the surly lot that I had to hang out with. Of course it is all of Jacs family and they do love their booze.

I love these guys and I always look forward to this time of year when I get to go to Oliver and see the family. I wonder if my family ever decided to do this would they show up? I would guess that they wouldn’t because they are all for themselves and since my grandma has passed why would they come together for a good time. Also none of them have ever moved out of Yarmouth and all live within 40 minutes of everyone.

Just wanted to put that out there. I am not pissed or anything I am just making an observation.

This guys name is Shawn. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. I thought that he was a really nice guy (from what I knew) and I thought that I would just post a pic of him today.

We have finally won…we were able to get out and get a portable a/c. For those out there that are not living in Calgary do not understand just how great this is. In a few weeks it is going to get stupidly hot here and you WILL NOT be able to find an a/c (or a fan for that matter). We did pay a little to much for it but is a necessary evil. We are putting it through its paces right now and it is working fine. Now hopefully it will be awesome when it is about 30 degrees out.

So I thought that I would also add a little something about work that I think that is so damn funny. Over the last few days we have been trying to finish the job at the hospital and we found out yesterday that we had just a little bit of wall to do.

This is not a big deal but here is the part that really makes me laugh. Tyler texted me last night about work for today and I told him that we were back at the foothills  to take out the wall and it would be about 4  hours work. I get to work and no one is there yet so I go out and fill out the paper work and Nev comes in and we are trying to figure out where Tyler is.

So I text him to see where is is and he sent me a message back saying that he did not know where he was supposed to be. Now I am not the smartest man in the world and if I get a text saying that we are supposed to be back where we have been for the last few months wouldn’t you figure out that that is where you are supposed to be?

Not for Tyler…we figure that he just wanted to have to day off.

Well this is the part that is funny. One of the project managers called and said that there is a job downtown and needed someone to help out. Well since we were “busy” Nev decided that Tyler should go, and guess what? That is where he ended up. 

To you this is not funny but for me it is HILARIOUS!!!! He had to go and pull carpet and that has to be the Worst thing that you can do in the job.

At war with the Indians…

A few weeks ago I got a call from Jac when I was at work. First of all this is weird because we kind of have an unwritten rule when it comes to calling each other when we are at work. We just do not do it.

So I find out with this phone call that she has had a fender bender when she was pulling out of a parking lot. Of course this was with a person she knows and we assumed that this could be resolved rather easily. Long story short Jac was driving out of the lot when this woman backed out and hit her front bumper.

After the police report was filled out Jac got a call from this woman saying that her insurance company said that it was 50/50 in a parking lot. Of course this is not true because Jac did the same thing last year to a person and she was found at fault because she was backing out. Our insurance company company got to the bottom of this statement and got that cleared up.

Now jump ahead a few weeks to the other day when Jac gets another call from our insurance company, this call is to inform her that the womans insurance company wrote a “nice” letter saying that she was only paying for half the damage because both of them were backing out and there was damage to both of their bumpers.

Of course this is not true because Jac has the pics of her front bumper that were taken by the body shop and the police visually saw the damage. Oh and did I mention that the police report states the truth about what happened.

Now this woman has lied to her insurance company and apparently there can be some serious issues that can arise from that. One thing is cancellation of her insurance and another (I found out last night) is that there could be information added to her file about this accident where she will not be able to get insurance.

I seriously hope this gets resolved soon so the car is fixed. As for the tile of this post it is because the woman is east indian.

just a post becuz I feel obligated

So it has been a bit since the last post and I thought that I would start by adding a little video I found on Youtube of a drummer called Cobus.

I have seen videos of this guy in the past playing stuff that I didn’t mind then I saw this one. I am a big A & A fan and I think that he did an amazing job of it. Also I think that I am a bit jealous of this guy because I have absolutely NO rhythm and I have always wanted to play the drums.

So what else has been going on? Well on the work front things have been ok but I am having an issue with another person ( the issue I was having with the other person has been resolved and we get along again). Ok so the issue that I have is that this guy (who will remain nameless) has this really bad issue of being late for work.

Now don’t get me wrong I have days when I am running late and I can’t help it that I am running a few minutes behind, but this guy takes the cake. He is on average 15 minutes late EVERY day!!! I have told this guy that if he is late everyday it is time for him to maybe leave early. Of course this is something that completely escapes him.

I know it is a common sense thing but this guy has an apparent “in” when it comes to keeping his job, and that is he is good friends with one of the guys in the office that does the hiring. Oh there is one thing I have to stress and that is he is not a lazy guy he just cannot get to work on time. I know if that was me I would have been shown the door a long time ago.

I could keep going on about it but I am done for now…

So what else has been going on? Well I have been getting calls from Rogers Communications for the last little bit and it was really pissing me off. I do not mind getting calls from them if there is an issue with my account or something like that but being called ump-teen times in a week is silly.

Ok so the reason I was getting so many call was 2 fold. 1 was because I do not ever have my ringer on and I never know that they are calling. The 2nd I found out is that when they get my vmail they hang up and quickly re-dial. I found out about the 2nd part one day when I was at work and I actually felt the vibration of my phone when it went off. When I went to get it they had hung up and called back about 10 seconds later.

So a few days goes by and I actually was able to get the call and politely told them to fuck off and that I was not interested in any thing that they had to say.

Secrets in the Family

I just got done watching V and there is some "secret" that Eric is hiding from her son. We find this out when she takes her son to her ex husbands place to keep him out of the clutches of the V’s.

I am wondering what  the secret is? For some reason I am thinking that she (or her ex) is another extra terrestrial life form. I guess I am going to have to watch next week and see if it gets revealed.
