Good dvd db maker

I have been trying to for the last few years to find a good dvd cataloging program. For years I have been trying to find a good working cracked version of the best one I have ever used called Collectorz but it has never worked for me properly and since I cannot find a hard copy of it i am not going to buy it.

So after doing a little bit of a search and a little trial and error I think I have found one that is not all that bad. It is called Eric’s Movie Data Base and it is COMPLETELY FREE!!!!

vista  Basically what it does is you type in the name of the movie that you want to add and it hits the IMDB looking for the information. Of course this is a HUGE time saver but there are a few drawbacks to this program compared to the Collectorz program, and that is that it is really slow pulling from the internet and when it does sometimes you do not get the right information. Also it does not do boxsets (Tv series and what not) so you have to manually add the information manually. Oh well I guess that’s what you get when the program is free.

There is one thing that I really like and that is that it will export your contents to html so you can add it to a website.

Now that I have conquered the dvd cataloging I now have to hunt down something for the cataloging of our cds and mp3s. Hopefully I get something soon.

Suddenly there is a flaw with my Sony Reader Software…go figure.

So I thought that I would do a little reading while I was sitting in front of the PC and I found out something interesting. At this time it is pretty pointless to do any reading on your pc from book on your device.

Why is this? Well it appears that that the one function that should work doesn’t. ereader1 If you enlarge the picture you will see that A is high lighted, this is to acknowledge that there is a book mark on the page. Also if you look at B the page is dog eared, this signifies that the page is book marked.  To me this is a little redundant but what do I know? The bookmark feature works fine if you are reading a book that is on the pc.

Odds are I am just not looking in the right spot when it comes to bookmarking, but to me I figure that this feature should be part of the program natively (and easy to find if it is in it) because there are times when you have a book on your device and want to just read from the device on your pc. Oh well I guess I will email Sony about this.

Ipad?!?!?! Could you not come up with something less dirty?

Well the announcement has finally been made by Steve Jobs as to what the new “innovator” is going to be. The wonder device is called the Ipad (pictured below)ipad-vs-iphone-2 . I’m not to sure what to make of this device, since it was just announced this morning, I guess there are a lot of people out there that do not know what to make of it. Basically it is a netbook without a keyboard (or as some people are saying a GIANT IPOD).

I have been an Apple fan for sometime now and I know that some day I will be able to afford something of theirs that is not an Ipod. When I did a Google search for the cost of the device it was saying that it would cost approximately 539 CAD for the entry level device. Of course since this is an entry level device it is only going to have Wi-fi connectivity which is fine for me and it will be 16gb.

I am not going to rush right out and get one (mainly because of other bills), like any first gen device I am going to assume that it may be a bit buggy. Also the only thing that I would really use it for is for E-books and since I have the Sony pocket Reader I could possibly skip it all together.

There is one thing that I am kind of interested in and that is when the “mobile” version is going to come to Canada. Do you think that it is going to take off like the Iphone did? I really hope not, I am not a fan of the Iphone and that is for one really stupid thing. The outrageous cost of the device.

What I am referring to is people stood out in line for this phone when it first came to Canada and were all happy to get one, basically signing their life away to the cold hearted bastards known as Rogers Wireless. This phone was a great device until the bills started to roll in and all of a sudden this “miracle device” was causing way to many headaches. People found out that they could not afford the device and there was no way to get out of their deal.

Why am I going on about that? Simple the same people that could not handle the bill before will be the first people to get in line for this device.

I guess I am going to have to wait and see how things pan out for the device. Some blogs are already asking if this could be an Epic Fail.
